After discovering that Willi has become a living skeleton, Ali and Barden listen to his extraordinary story and promise to help protect his secret. Knowing that Willi cannot safely return to town, they lead him and Snake to their hidden bush shelter.
 
There, Willi meets Pie-Face, a friendly kangaroo rescued by Ali and Barden when he was a joey. They call him Pie-Face because he loves them.
 
As night falls, the friends settle in together, but the unfamiliar sounds of the outback make it difficult for Willi to sleep.
 
In the morning, they plan to find Barden’s Great Uncle, who may be able to help them understand what has happened to Willi.
